A place to explore games in depth...
The largest airborne operation in history, Operation Market-Garden was the culminating event of the Allied breakout in France in the summer of 1944. An attempt to maintain the strategic initiative before logistics and the Wehrmacht could stop the advance, three airborne divisions would be dropped along a sixty mile long corridor in Holland from Eindhoven to Arnhem, securing the critical bridges across the rivers and canals along the way. Ground forces (British XXX Corps) would then link up with the airborne troops to secure the corridor. The ultimate prize was the Rhine Bridge at Arnhem, the last major physical barrier into Germany itself.
This will be the largest wargame ever played at Metro Seattle Gamers. Where Eagles Dare and The Devil's Cauldron are board wargames in Multiman Publishing's Grand Tactical Series of wargames. Maneuver units are companies and platoons. Employing ten map sections this game will utilize all six tables in the larger gaming room of the club. In spite of the game's size the counter density is low and the rules are simple, with most of the game being accessible on a two sided 8.5x11 inch set of charts.
This will be a team game in which players will cover for the absences of other players. Sessions will be approximately twice a month with a half map session on Saturday, February 20th. Most sessions will be long, starting at 9 am and running across the afternoon.
