The first half of the 16th Century was a remarkable period in European history. Simmering theological unrest, the development of the printing press, the continued rise of the merchant classes, the beginning of centralized monarchies, and the development of oceanic travel combined to upset the old European order. Without his planning to do so, Luther's theological challenges lit a fire that would not go out in his lifetime.

Here I Stand is GMT's card driven game of European grand strategy. Players will represent the monarchies of England's Henry VIII, France's Francis I, the Holy Roman Empire's Charles V, and the Ottoman Empire's Suleiman the Magnificent while a great theological and political struggle ensues between the Papacy and the defiant Protestant states inspired by Luther, Calvin and others. And then there is the news of a New World across the ocean.
